I won’t lie, this took me an age to get into for one reason or another but I like to finish books I’ve started and after reading the midwife’s confession (also by Diane Chamberlain) and really enjoying that, I wanted to persevere and I’m glad I did.
I really liked the main characters in this one – easy to imagine what they were like and the descriptions provided good detail about their looks and therefore the emotions were easy to under because of the type of people they were.
The storyline was pretty unique and kept me guessing, once I’d eventually got into it. I like the relationships between the characters and didn’t feel that anything was too forced or added in for ‘good measure’.
I’d give this a 7 out of 10.
